While Fortnite might be one of the most popular games in the last decade, it does suffer from one glaring flaw: a lack dietary options. Right now the natural consumable available in Fortnite are apples, coconuts, and mushrooms. But according to a recent datamine of the game, it looks like that's about to change.

When natural consumables were added to Fortnite way back in season 1, they were a welcome addition to the game. These mini health and shield buffs didn't require a full inventory slot, which helped make the game feel more balanced. Unlike new inclusions like the Fortnite helicoptertheir inclusion felt like a quality of life improvement that didn't fundamentally change how the game was played.

The leak of new natural consumables comes from Twitter user FireMonkey, a Fortnite leaker and content creator. He's widely known as user who first found the addiction warnings in Fortnite. In a tweet this week, he said that there were a number of new consumable items tagged in Fortnite's files. On top of the food already in the game, the next update will include bananas, cabbages, corn, peppers, Slurp Mushrooms, and a new item called an Apple Sun.

The item that's creating the most buzz is the Apple Sun, which players can "jump to deploy." As of now it's unclear what this means. Some fans are speculating the the Apple Sun will give players a super jump ability, much like the hop rocks did in season one. However until these items are officially announced, no one will know what they do for sure.

The Slurp Mushroom also has players' attention. There's already an existing item in Fortnite called Slurp Juice, that when consumed, grants players a boost to both health and shields. It's become an iconic item in the game, and just this week a series of Slurp skins leaked. The Slurp Mushroom will presumably work similarly to Slurp Juice, buffing both the players health and shields, although probably for a smaller amount. But again, at this point, this is all speculation.

It's fantastic that Fortnite adding new natural consumables in the game. The inclusion of foods like cabbage and corn fits in great with the whacky and whimsical tone of Fortnite. These items will be useful to players, but probably wont break the games meta.

Fortnite is out now for iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
