Last week, Season of the Worthy finally kicked off for Destiny 2 players bringing back Trials of Osiris for competitive players as well as centering the PvE story around Rasputin and the incoming threat of the Almighty crashing into The Last City. As interesting of a premise as that is, not everyone is quite sold on the content at the moment as so far it really only involves playing a new Public Event and collecting enough resources to upgrade a bunker in a similar way to the obelisks of last season.

This week, the calendar of content moved forward and brought with it the return of the Fourth Horseman exotic shotgun. Players should speak to Commander Zavala at the Tower to begin the quest which will task players with finding his secret office. The rest of the quest is a little more involved than the Devil's Ruin quest from last season, but ultimately shouldn't be too challenging for most players to wrap up.

However, Destiny 2 players can also further upgrade the gun through unlocking its catalyst. Here's how to find and upgrade the Fourth Horseman to masterwork level.

Finding The Catalyst

Similar to the Lumina catalyst, the Fourth Horseman one is fairly easy to obtain. As of right now, only two activities are known to drop the catalyst, though it's not a guaranteed drop so a bit of luck is needed as well. Once the exotic shotgun is unlocked, players will need to take part in Seraph Tower Public Events or Legendary Lost Sectors. For now, this means heading to the EDZ, but over the course of the season, the content will expand to include the Moon and Io. In terms of speed, the Public Events may be a better option due to the tougher challenge that a Legendary Lost Sector provides.

Considering these are limited time events and will be removed at the end of the current season, the random drop rate for the catalyst is likely higher than other exotics to ensure that players get it at some point.

Upgrading the Catalyst

In order to now Masterwork the weapon, players will need to upgrade the catalyst. In the case of the Fourth Horseman, players simply need to rack up kills with the weapon. The best way to do this would be to find a wave based activity such as the Altars of Sorrow on the Moon, Escalation Protocol on Mars, or the Blind Well in the Dreaming City. The large quantities of enemies should help players progress faster on unlocking the masterwork version.

Once complete and applied to the weapon, the Masterwork version of the Fourth Horseman generates orbs on multikills, tracks the number of defeated enemies, makes the weapon reload faster, and provides one additional shot with it before needing a reload.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
