Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out for more than a year now for players on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, the game just came out to the PC several months ago, which opened the game to a whole new player base. During its release back in 2018, RDR2 received mostly positive reviews and quickly became a critical and commercial success thanks to its vast open world, immersive gameplay, and an interesting story.

Now, it is no secret that developer Rockstar Games spent around eight years developing Red Dead Redemption 2, which is evident from its numerous missions and side quests that would take players countless hours to complete. However, the time and effort spent in developing the game are also seen with the Red Dead Redemption 2' expansive open-world environment that contains small quiet towns, bustling cities, and all sorts of unusual, mysterious, and sometimes disturbing things. Now, we take a look back at the game's vast open-world environment and all the creepy things that players have found in Red Dead Redemption 2.

The Ritual

The first creepy thing on this list is what appears to be a site for a Pagan Ritual that contains all sorts of creepy symbols and, of course, a decapitated human corpse. The ritual site can be found west-northwest of Strawberry and is located in a small clearing in the forest toward the edge of the map. There, players will find a horrific ritual site where a corpse of what is assumed to be a human sacrifice is located. This ritual site remains to be unexplained Red Dead Redemption 2, and it is unclear who are the people involved and what its the sacrifice for.

Ghost Train

Finding trains are pretty much common in Red Dead Redemption 2, especially given the timeframe the game is set in, and players can even witness or participate in train robberies. However, Red Dead Redemption 2 also features a ghost train, which is a reference to the Phantom Train boss battle in Final Fantasy 6. The Ghost Train can be found by venturing into the North-West part of Lemoyne. There, players would need to mount their horse and ride along the rails of the area at around 3 AM. When the horse starts to shudder, then that means the ghost train is about to spawn. However, players should also remember that the ghost train won't appear every single time, so if it does not show up during the first attempt, players can just sleep and try again next night.

Devil's Cave

In Red Dead Redemption 2, players will come across the Devil's cave, which is located near the Little Creek river north of Strawberry. Here, players should expect to feel a little bit uneasy due to the overall vibe of the cave that contains a bunch of patterns and hieroglyphics on the walls. Eventually, a man will start shouting at the player and claims to be the devil himself and would go on to tell the player to leave the area immediately. In the end, the man will creepily admit that "Okay, I'm not the devil. But I want to be. I want to be. And that's even worse."

UFO

The appearance of a UFO in a game that is set in the present time is still unnerving, but not as creepy when it appears in a game such as Red Dead Redemption 2 that is set in 1899. In the north of Emerald Ranch players will find a small cabin with a suicide note inside saying the line "the second hour under the half-moon." Now, if the player visits the same cabin at 2 AM on a half-moon night, they will witness an extremely out of place object that is flying in the sky.

Agnes Dowd's Ghost

By now, players should know that Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't shy away from supernatural things and unexplained phenomena with its ghost trains, UFOs, vampires, and many more. However, one of the creepiest supernatural moments in the game would be the encounter with the ghost of Agnes Dowd. The story of Agnes is told to the player by Reverand Swanson. Upon visiting the swamps of Lemoyne between 9 PM and 3 AM, players will hear cries of a woman near the area. If the player follows the sound, they will encounter what appears to be the apparition of Agnes Dowd wearing a white dress. It is worth noting that attempting to get close to the ghost will end the encounter. However, if players stay back, they will witness how Agnes Dowd lost her life, which is definitely a creepy sight to behold.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for the PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
