HBO's hit series Game of Thrones is getting a brand new strategy mobile game. From the developers at Behavior Interactive, HBO, and Gaea comes the new Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall game set to release officially on March 26th for iOs users, and later on April 3rd for Android users.
Beyond the Wall is set fifty years before the events that the book series and television show took place. It will take place at the northern wall of Westeros that separates the seven kingdoms from the wildlings of the north. Through classic mobile gaming mechanics, players will command a castle full of Night's Watch in order to protect Westeros from impending doom.
The game was announced in the summer of 2019 with an intriguing trailer, yet very little gameplay. Beyond the Wall will operate like Fire Emblem, in that the player will control squads of characters on a grid map. The map will determine what players may or may not attack and how far the range of weapons will reach.
There will be some familiar faces in the game alongside completely new characters created just for the game. For those wondering how characters from the series will make appearances in a game set decades in the past, the team has put together a convenient explanation via a time-traveling mechanic used in the original series. The newest characters will range from all over Westeros and include Mayla the Woods Witch and First Ranger Alvar Spyre.
The story is set to follow after just after Lord Commander Brynden Rivers disappears while ranging beyond the Wall. A team of Night's Watchmen will go ranging beyond the wall in order to discover what exactly happened to the Lord Commander. Through squad-based combat, players will fight with wildlings and any other mysterious creature that may lurk beyond the wall.
As of now, gamers can pre-register for the game through the Apple Store, Google Play, or on the official website to gain access to the game in the coming months. Apple users will have earlier access to the game as it releases on March 26th. Meanwhile, Android users will have to wait until April 3rd for full access to the game.
Game of Thrones: Beyond the Wall will be available exclusively on Android and iOS at the end of the month.
