Every game of Fortnite is supposed to start the same way. The Battle Bus picks up players from the starting island and flies them across the map, where they are free to parachute wherever they choose. But for one unlucky Fortnite player on Reddit, that's not what happened. Instead of getting picked up by the Battle Bus, she was left behind to fend for herself.
A clip of the glitch was posted to Reddit by user LayzaSkully. In it, she joins a game of Fortnite, only to find that the Battle Bus had left without her. She then runs around the starting area, which is now devoid of other players, slowly dying from the storm. She opens her map to confirm that the battle bus is flying, but unfortunately, there's no way for her to get aboard it. And while it's certainly unfortunate, it isn't the first time that a Fortnite glitch has proven fatal.
Users have been speculating as to what caused the glitch. The going theory is that LayzaSkully joined the game at the same moment that the Battle Bus left. This lead to the game putting her on the spawn island, but giving her no way off of it. Many Fortnite players successfully petitioned and got a way to thank the driver of the Battle Bus, but maybe just this once, the driver doesn't deserve thanks.
So far, this glitch seems to only affect players who are playing the Team Rumble mode. Team Rumble has already faced controversy in recent days because Epic Games changed the win conditions of the mode without informing players. If the mode continues to be glitchy, this will surely only add fuel to the fire.
Epic Games has been continuously updating Fortnite since its release in order to keep the game fresh for players. They've recently been experimenting with making Fortnite players choose between two factions, which has been a fun experience. However, Epic does have a responsibility to players to make sure the underlying game is working, and that glitches like this one are patched out. While it may be relatively harmless, this is still a frustrating glitch for players who just want to play the game.
