Classic Blade Runner coming to modern PCs & consoles

Blade Runner

Nightdive Studios and Alcon Entertainment have announced that the 1997 PC classic, Blade Runner, is being remastered for modern PCs and consoles. Originally released in 1997 by Westwood Studios, the game was considered “one of the most innovative adventure games of its era” that added depth to the 1982 movie of the same name. The restored and remastered version of the game will be called Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition and will be available for PC via Steam as well as on Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation.

The enhanced edition of the game will feature updated character models, animations, remastered “upscaled” cutscenes “using machine learning algorithms”, and will feature widescreen support, keyboard/controller customization and more.

“Once lost for years and only recently coming out of retirement, this seminal game will soon become widely available to a whole new generation of gamers around the world. Fans of the cult classic can expect a polished and premium restoration from Nightdive using their proprietary KEX game engine, which has been used to restore classic video games across all digital platforms including System Shock: Enhanced Edition, Turok, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, Blood, and Forsaken Remastered. Nightdive has also sourced the original foreign-language translations, so fans can enjoy the game in German, French, Italian, and Chinese just as Westwood intended.”

Nightdive Studios has been instrumental in the preservation of many classic games including System Shock, System Shock 2, Turok, Wizardry 8, and Blood: Fresh Supply to name a  few.
