The spirit board in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been a wonderful way for Nintendo to include a series in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, even when there isn't a playable character from that game. The next game to be featured on the spirit board will be Ring Fit Adventure, Nintendo's surprisingly popular exercise RPG.

Spirits are collectibles that players can equip to fighters to give them some a sort of buff. The base game comes with a number of unlockable spirits, and Nintendo has been regularly releasing new spirits. Recently, Nintendo added a number of Pokemon from from Sword and Shield to the board, which was great news for fans of the new Pokemon games.

The inclusion of Ring Fit Adventure spirits was announced today on Twitter by the official Nintendo Versus account. It's possible that this announcement is meant to capitalize on the increased popularity of Ring Fit Adventure in China due to the Coronavirus. The post announced that Spirit board event will be called "Spirits Fit for a Fight" and will run from March 13 to 18. There will be three new spirits for fans to unlock. However the post image shows four characters from the game: both of the Ring Fit Trainees, Ring, and Dragaux. This has lead some fans to speculate that the Ring Fit Trainees will be combined into one spirit, but as of now that's still speculation.

In order to to unlock spirits, players must fight a character representing the spirit. While Nintendo has not announced who fans will have to battle for each of the Ring Fit Adventure spirits, most players are assuming that Wii Fit Trainer will be in the mix. When Wii Fit Trainer was first announced for Smash, fans reacted with shock, but she's quickly become a fan favorite character, and the scourge of online players.

There is also fan speculation that because Ring Fit Adventure is getting spirits, it probably won't get a playable character. As of right now, Nintendo is only planning on adding six more characters to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This means that competition for these spots will be fierce. While it's impossible to say for sure, Nintendo might be including these characters as spirits, so that they have a place in the game, without giving them a whole fighter.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
