The Division 2, the online action-RPG from Massive Entertainment, has just received its first full expansion. While three smaller DLC missions have already been added to the game, Warlords of New York brings major changes to almost every aspect of The Division 2's gameplay.

As well as a lengthy story campaign featuring a group of rogue First Wave Division Agents and a lethal biological weapon, the DLC also adds new items, gear, skills and level progression. One of the most useful of these new skills is the Decoy, which can only be obtained through the campaign. Here's how to pick it up.

Rogue First Wave Agents

The plot of Warlords of New York revolves around Aaron Keener, a former First Wave Division Agent who went rogue during the collapse of New York. After being off the grid for six months, he has returned with a new biological weapon and four powerful allies.

One of these allies is Theo Parnell, another former First Wave Division Agent, and master of drones and hacking. Parnell's technical expertise and creative use of the Decoy system makes his boss fight a real challenge, but players who manage to bring him down will be able to learn the skill themselves. Sure it's no friendly, pettable dog, but it's still a useful tool.

The Master of Deception

As expected of an expert engineer and master of stealth technology, Parnell's boss fight involves finding him among his many decoys, and disabling the turrets that he has set up to defend himself. This is a challenge compounded by the flapping tarps and driving rain of his boss arena, set in the expansion's new New York area.

Fortunately, the Decoy skill can be more useful to players than it is to its inventor. Allowing the player to project ECHO-based holographic replicas of themselves, the skill is the perfect tool for setting up ambushes and deceiving enemies. Unfortunately, the holograms don't move or shoot, so while they're effective against AI enemies, don't expect them to be anything more than a very minor distraction against other players. Even with the PvP environment now reeling from the Exotics nerf, the Decoy skill is unlikely to become part of the meta.

The Division 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
