Pokemon GO trainers barely have a chance to catch their breath this weekend. The February Community Day event isn't the only big activity to manage, thanks to the surprise addition of Friendship Weekend 2020. This annual event is a great opportunity to stock up on Stardust and to trigger some exciting Lucky Trades.

This event is rather short, so players are going to want to get started right away to have a chance to take full advantage of all of the bonuses and features. As expected for a Friendship-themed event, the best way to get all the perks of this event is to interact with other players by trading, gifting, and raiding together.

Players have a handful of bonuses to keep track of this weekend, so be sure to carefully consider your strategy before heading out to play over the next few days...

When Is The Friendship Weekend?

The Friendship Weekend has already started in all time zones and runs through Monday, February 24th, until 10 p.m. local time.

What Are The Friendship Weekend 2020 Bonuses and Features?

2x Trade Candy

1/2 Trade Stardust cost

An increase from 20 to 40 in the amount of gifts you can open in a day

An increase from 10 to 20 gifts that you can carry in your inventory

Faster-increasing friendship levels (likely to be 2x as per past events)

How To Take Advantage of Friendship Weekend Bonuses?

This event is all about sending and receiving a ton of Gifts and triggering Lucky Friend bonuses. To take best advantage of it, players should concentrate on interacting most with Friends who they can actually see in real life sometime in the near future. This will make capitalizing on the Lucky Friend bonuses when they trigger much easier.

This event is also a good time to burn through some Star Pieces. Trainers who have Star Pieces to spare should consider activating one before opening a ton of Gifts. This will dramatically increase the Stardust gains from Gifts and help rack up the valuable resource.

For now, players may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
