Destiny 2 has been running a special event for a few weeks now where players can donate polarized fractiline to the Tower Obelisk in return for a mysterious reward that has yet to be revealed. After weeks of donating polarized fractiline to the Tower Obelisk, Destiny 2 players are finally nearing the end, passing the stage 6 goal of 6,000,000,000 and moving on to the final stage of the event.

The final stage of the Destiny 2 Empyrean Foundation event may take the longest, as players have to up the donations to a whopping 9,777,777,700 polarized fractiline. The original goal was 9,777,777,000, but Bungie increased it by 700 "due to player feedback." Why the number isn't 9,777,777,777 is unclear, as Bungie typically favors the number "7" in its games.

Considering how much time Destiny 2 enthusiasts have dedicated to this event, here's hoping the reward is worth it in the end. At least one Destiny 2 player hit maximum individual resonance power when donating to the Tower Obelisk, so there are definitely some players that have been spending a great deal of time doing this.

The Destiny 2 Empyrean Foundation event isn't the only event that's been going on in the looter-shooter recently. February 2020 has also seen the expected return of the Destiny 2 Crimson Days event, which is the franchise's annual Valentine's Day celebration. As usual, the Destiny 2 Crimson Days event rewarded players for participating in the limited-time Crimson Doubles game mode with special rewards.

Looking ahead, there's a lot more exciting Destiny 2 events for fans to look forward to, including the long-awaited Season 10. Destiny 2 Season 10 is expected to start on March 10, with Season 9: Season of Dawn ending on March 9. Bungie has already started hyping up Destiny 2 Season 10, releasing a new cut-scene that shows Osiris confronting Rasputin. More specific details on Destiny 2 Season 10 are unavailable at the time of this writing, but fans can expect more news soon.

Beyond Destiny 2 Season 10, fans can expect the looter-shooter to have Season 11 as well, as Bungie already has plans in place for it. It's hard to say what will happen with Destiny 2 after that in terms of the game's ongoing lore. And with the rumored Destiny 3 likely waiting in the wings, it seems like anything can happen in the game.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
