Ever since its release, Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled has become possibly one of the biggest racing games ever. Its regular Grand Prix events, where players complete challenges to earn points, have introduced a tonne of new content to the game, including characters, karts, courses and more. And after eight months, Activision has decided to bring these events to an end.

Activision confirmed via a blog post on its official website that it will be holding one final Grand Prix, which will be announced shortly after the conclusion of the current Grand Prix, which is ending over the weekend.

A new challenge system will be implemented, however, that will allow players to earn even more of the in-game currency of Wumpa Coins, with which they can purchase cosmetics from the Pit Stop. There will be three types of challenges (Daily, Weekly, and Monthly) and they will be relevant to every mode. Another change will be that the Pit Stop can be refreshed twice a day, providing players with more daily options.

The blog post also confirmed that all of the Grand Prix exclusive content will be made available, meaning players who missed them the first time or joined in late can still acquire them. Given the time-limited content and Activsion's inclusion of microtransactions to encourage players to spend real money on Wumpa Coins, this could potentially mitigate the complaint.

Aside from this, new time trials belonging to Crash Team Racing's staff will be added, and managing to beat all of these will grant players a special reward (possibly a new kart or skin) that can be shown off. And finally, while the Grand Prixes are ending, new free content will continue to be added afterwards, including a "long-awaited item that [Activision thinks] fans will be very happy about."

This shouldn't be too surprising, as a list of playable characters was leaked last summer, and a number of them have yet to be included, such as a baby version of Doctor Cortex and at least two more Spyro characters. There will also be new karts, skins, re-colors, decals and paint jobs.

Newcomers may find themselves struggling with competing in the game's online mode and clearing certain challenges. Fortunately, we have a handy guide with some simple tips and tricks to help those players catch up.
