After months of anticipation, the first game from Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto and his team at V1 Interactive is ready for actual players. Disintegration attempts to twist the familiar first person shooter mechanics from Bungie's previous efforts by adding a number of unique elements such as real-time strategy, vehicular combat, and cooperative tactics.

Naturally, Disintegration also features an iconic Lehto sci-fi visual style, putting players in the robotic shoes of Romer who pilots a gravcycle to command troops and cause damage from above. In this game, the human race is on the brink of extinction so in order to survive, they've placed their brains inside robot frames. Once the situation is resolved, the process was intended to be reversed, though some groups of integrated humans decide that they don't want to go back which leads to the current conflict.

For those unaware, Disintegration is the first title from V1 Interactive, a studio founded by Marcus Lehto. Halo fans may remember Lehto from his days at Bungie working as Creative Art Director where he worked on games like Myth and every Halo game up to Reach. He's also credited as the father of Halo protagonist, Master Chief.

As for why he ultimately left the fan favorite studio after 15 years, Lehto recently came out to confirm that it was the periods of extreme crunch which negatively impacted his life. In fact, it was that culture at Bungie that ultimately led Lehto to institute a goal to avoid crunch culture to ensure that his team is both happy and healthy. One way the studio has managed to do this is by ensuring that everyone is involved with the development process.

Disintegration is set to release in 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
