The Division 2 outlines overhauls of Recalibration and Skill Power systems

There’s a bunch of change coming to the systems of The Division 2. Players were already briefed on gear changes, and now they’re getting word on overhauls to Skill Power and Recalibration systems in the multiplayer shooter. The recent State of the Game livestream granted a first look at these changes, which are intended on adding some more RPG elements to the title.

Recalibration will soon let players break down a found item’s features like Talents, stats, core stats, and mod slots into a library to apply to later gear. This library will display stored Talents and attributes by weapon or gear type to help players quickly find improvements for specific items, and will also let players know when gear in their inventory has a better attribute than what they’ve stored to make it easier to keep track of what’s best-in-slot at any given time.

As for Skill Power, that’s being replaced by Skill Tier, which lets skills improve and scale directly with a tier system instead of by skill mods. There are a total of six Skill Tiers, and players can achieve that maximum by wearing pieces of gear with the same Skill Tier. Skill mods will still be in-game, only they’ll operate more like weapon mods in that they’ll add percentage modifiers.

All of these adjustments are due to arrive after Episode 3 goes live, but you can get some more information in the game’s weekly update. In the meantime, players can busy themselves with a re-opening of Kenly College this coming Tuesday, January 28th.
