The past decade has been full of fun and engaging multiplayer games. Games such as Black Ops 2Titanfall 2, and Overwatch have made great impressions on gamers. Unfortunately, there is another side to the story. There is a slew of multiplayer games that fell flat on their face.

With good games comes bad games and the games on this list are certainly bad games. This list is comprised of multiplayer games with local and online capabilities. Multiplayer games are supposed to connect players together and create fun moments. These games do the complete opposite of that.

10 2010 - Need for Speed: World (62)

Need for Speed World

Need for Speed: World was the first massively multiplayer game in the franchise. The developers behind the game shut down in 2013, so this game did not bode well for them. Need for Speed: World received very mixed reviews, but the lack of a singleplayer was the primary issue.

The game was praised for its ambition, but many felt the game missed the mark. That said, gameplay featured features similar to Most Wanted and Carbon. The game focused on illegal street racing while mixing in police vehicles. The game was supported after launch for some time but it never made up for the mistake.

9 2011 - FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction (23)

Forewarning, there are a handful of racing or car games on this list. FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction is a demolition racing game with various modes for players. Modes could be played in an online or local multiplayer. The game took players to a wide variety of locations to cause "chaos and destruction."

The game's description prides itself on realistic physics, but many critics disagreed. FlatOut 3's visuals were also lacking at the time of its release. Most reviews ripped destroyed this game's hope of being good. FlatOut 3 was a chaotic mess.

8 2012 - Family Party: 30 Great Games Obstacle Arcade (11)

If you have to use the world great in your game title then it most likely has some issues. Family Party: 30 Great Games Obstacle Arcade (that is a mouthful) was released for the Wii U, which may explain the terrible minigame mess we got.

Family Party was criticized for its terrible voice acting, bad minigames, and unnerving host. Most reviewers recommended readers to find another party game for their Wii U. A reviewer even referred to it as the "coal under the tree" for the year.

7 2013 - Fast & Furious: Showdown (22)

The Fast & Furious movie franchise has continued to be successful, but the games based on the series have not done well. The third racing game on this list allowed players to play cooperatively and participate in online leaderboards.

Fast & Furious: Showdown takes players all over the world for heists, takedowns and, more. The cast of the movies is included and can be switched between throughout the game. The game was considered boring, corny, and a waste of time.

6 2014 - Firefall (60)

Firefall has one of the highest scores on this list, but still can't meet the standards of better multiplayer games. Firefall is an online team-based game where players tackle The Chosen. Players are given quests and missions to complete so they can upgrade their characters.

However, the game sends players on similar quests in the same areas, and the characters are very one dimensional. Some reviewers found the game to be okay but still criticized the game over a flat narrative. Firefall was free-to-play so it had that going for it.

5 2015 - Alone in the Dark: Illumination (19)

Many reviewers liked the concept of the game but thought it was executive poorly. Fans of the series were excited about the final installment but were disappointed when they got their hands on this shooter. Many thought the game was terrifying, but not in a scary way.

4 2016 - Ghostbusters (30)

The rebooted Ghostbusters with an all-female cast had its critics, but this game has nothing going for it. The game takes place sometime after the film and allows for four-player cooperative play. The 2.5D isometric game allows players to choose their character for some ghost hunting.

Ghostbusters was criticized for its lack of variety, characters, and overall execution. Some argued the game was not worth the $50 price tag attached to it on lanch. The original Ghostbusters movie is praised and we have yet to see anything of its caliber since.

3 2017 - Road Rage (26)

Road Rage is the fourth and final racing game on this list. The game is an open-world racing game for motorcycles. Players have opportunities to explore the city and perform all sorts of objectives. The twist of the game is that players can hit each other off using weapons.

Road Rage was hit with a staggering amount of negative reviews. Every aspect of the game was criticized for being poorly executed. Many hated the empty world, sound design, and graphics. No one had a single positive thing to say about this terrible game.

2 2018 - Overkill's The Walking Dead (51)

Overkill's The Walking Dead is arguably the most well-known video game on this list. The license attached to this game made it a highly-anticipated title. The coop first-person shooter was expected to hit consoles but was canceled after the PC version did so poorly.

The main criticisms of the game included a lack of gameplay variety and long load times. Reviewers did enjoy the graphics and gunplay. Those features were not enough to save the game. The developers behind the game are currently struggling to find financial revenue to continue developing games.

1 2019 - Blades of Time (38)

Blades of Time released for the Nintendo Switch last year and was hit with a negative reception. This Konami published hack-and-slash features a female protagonist against dark entities on an island. Ayumi, the protagonist is described as a "gorgeous gunsword-wielding treasure hunter."

If that doesn't hook you then the rest of the description won't. Critics cited the game as being mainly boring. Many critics said the game had a lot going for it and did some things well. However, the game couldn't execute its ideas in the right way.
