When it comes to regular deals and discounts, Amazon has plenty. There's a dedicated page that runs year round, showcasing all the offers available and there could be hundreds of deals to browse on any given day.

Not only do you get free and fast delivery on several eligible products, but you also get exclusive deals, early access to some of these deals and free access to some of Amazon's other services like Prime Video, Prime Reading and Prime Gaming. While Amazon's daily deals are great, the best time to shop on the platform is during a big sale. Amazon hosts a few each year that could save you even more, particularly on some big-ticket items like laptops and cameras. While the Prime Day sale is arguably its most popular, the Amazon Black Friday sale is just as good in terms of the discounts we see. Amazon even has its own Boxing Day sale.

There are a few other smaller sales in between, like Big Smile Sale that typically happens in March and Mid-Year Sale that coincides with Australia's EOFY sales. Below is a list of the main Amazon sales that you can look forward to each year.

Sennheiser Momentum 4 (Special Edition) | AU$579.95 AU$394 (save AU$185.95)

Sennheiser's fourth generation wireless over-ear cans are fantastic. In our five-star Sennheiser Momentum 4 review, we called these headphones "unbeatable". With active noise-cancellation, 60-hours of battery life and excellent sound quality, there are few pairs that can compete with the Momentum 4. Our only drawback was that their design is quite plain, and the few pieces of copper this special edition provides takes care of that. An absolute steal at this price.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 (256GB) | AU$1,649 from AU$1,232 (save up to AU$417)

Before the Z Flip 5, Samsung was behind competitors in the foldable phone space. With this model, though, that's no longer the case. In our Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 review, we loved its power, the software support it receives (as seen by this latest AI update), its battery life and its cover display. None of that has changed since we initially reviewed it, and at this price, we recommend it. Note that the Lavender and Graphite colourways are the cheapest, but all the others are discounted too.

Ninja Foodi SmartLid Multi Cooker | AU$799 AU$406.65 (save AU$392.35)

If you love variety in your cooking, there are few better ways to do it than this multi-cooker from Ninja. While it has a fancy name, the Foodi is simply an excellent extra-large air fryer. While we were quite harsh on it in our Ninja Foodi Multi-Cooker review, our biggest issue with it was its price – there's just too many fantastic options at a much lower price point. However, at almost half price there's not too much to dislike. It is undoubtedly more difficult to master than some of its competitors, but its huge capacity and 15 cooking functions are more -than worth it. If you regularly cook for more than four people, this is an incredible deal.

Garmin Forerunner smartwatches | up to 33% off

With deals on both the Garmin Forerunner 955 and 255S Music in whitestone and black, these are two fantastic watches at excellent prices. While neither smartwatch currently sits in our best garmin watches list, the 955 reviewed excellently, earning a perfect 5/5 star score, while the cheaper smaller sibling, the 255S, earned itself 4.5/5. Sure, there might be newer Garmin devices available in 2024, but if you're looking for a fitness-focused smartwatch, you can't go wrong with these.

Shark FlexStyle (Malibu Pink) | AU$399 AU$349 (save AU$50)

Released just in time for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, the Malibu Pink colourway of the Shark FlexStyle is a little cheaper than the original model on account of not shipping with the diffuser attachment and the carry case. Throw in the little AU$50 discount and you have a Dyson Airwrap rival going for just AU$349! So if you'd like your tresses styled quickly, easily and without too much heat damage, jump on this offer before it disappears.

De'Longhi Nespresso Vertuo Next with Milk Frother | AU$389 AU$199 on Amazon (save AU$190)
Do you want delicious coffee in less time than it takes to make instant coffee? This machine can do that, providing everything from single shot espresso to large mugs full of coffee. With this deal there's even an included milk frother that on its own costs more than AU$100. This frother elevates an already great machine to really cater to everyone, giving you that special, cafe coffee feel without the price tag. If you're in the market to elevate your at-home coffees, this is the deal to jump on.

Beats Studio 3 | AU$499.95 AU$279 (save AU$220.95)

While there might be better over-ear headphones on the market, Beats' tag as the coolest headphones that you must have is still hanging on Luckily they're still very solid headphones and yes, they do look cool – just take a look at F1 superstar Daniel Ricciardo before every race. Their sound quality might be decent enough for most users, but they're attractive, comfortable and have an exceptional battery life. While the Shadow Grey colourway sees the biggest price cut, there are four other colours (at varying discounts) to choose from via the same listing.

How to save money when shopping on Amazon

1. Become a Prime member

While it might cost you a monthly (or annual) fee to be a Prime member, it's the best way to maximise your savings, particularly if you think you're going to shopping on the platform regularly. If you're not a Prime member yet, you can sign up now for a 30-day free trial and, if you do so just before a big sale and cancel the subscription before the trial ends, you get the full benefits without having to pay anything extra, albeit for a short period of time.

Benefits include free and fast shipping, exclusive and early access to select deals, plus free subscriptions to some of Amazon's other services like Prime Video, Prime Reading and Prime Gaming. Find out more about this subscription service in our guide to what is Amazon Prime.

2. Use Amazon coupons

We've got a dedicated page that lists a lot of Amazon coupon codes to help you save on your next shop, but there are always select items on the site that have a little check box that you can tick to bring the price down a little. These coupons can save you anywhere from 5% to 20% off a particular item, and occasionally there's a specific amount of money that gets deducted (e.g. AU$5 off a AU$20 portable power bank), so keep an eye out of them when shopping on Amazon.

Note that when you use these little boxes, the discounted price will only appear when you finally check out – not when the item is sitting in your virtual cart.

3. Track your cart

If you aren't in a hurry to buy something specific, you can always add it to your cart and click "save for later". Amazon has a handy functionality that automatically lets you know if an item in your cart has had a price change.

4. Set up alerts

If you don't want to keep logging into Amazon to check your cart, you can use a site called camelcamelcamel.com to see an item's price history. You just have to copy and paste the URL of the Amazon item you're interested in into Camelcamelcamel's search bar and voila, you get the price history represented by an easy-to-understand graph.

Monitoring this manually, though, can be annoying, so the folks behind this tracking site have created a handy browser plug-in that you can install to receive email alerts when a specific item gets a discount. This is particularly useful during Amazon's big sales if you know what you're after.

If there are certain products you know you will buy regularly, particular pantry staples and toiletries, you can use the Subscribe & Save feature on Amazon. This option shows up as the default offer when click on items like laundry detergents, coffee pods, nail colour, baby-care items and more, and it's possible to save as much as 15%, with free shipping already available for Prime members.

6. Check Amazon's daily deals

Amazon has a dedicated hub that lists hundreds of offers, called Today's Deal. It sits right on top of the any Amazon page and, while it looks a little daunting to browse, there are filters you can use to narrow down your search if you know what you're after.

If you happen to use an Echo smart device, you can also use a simple voice command to find out what the day's offers are by saying, "Alexa, what are my deals?"

7. Browse overstocked items in the Amazon Outlet store

Amazon also has a dedicated section called the Outlet Store that stocks clearance items going cheap. It also houses overstocked new items too, and these usually have some significant discounts. From electronics to homewares, the Outlet Store can save you a pretty penny, but note that some items may come in a damaged box. If so, there will be a note on the product listing page about its condition.

8. Shop during the big sales

If you're not in a rush to buy something, particularly an expensive item, consider waiting till a big sale comes knocking. By 'big', we mean Prime Day and Black Friday as these two sales are when we see the biggest discounts.

That said, there usually a lot of good deals during Big Smile Sale and the Mid-Year Sale, so don't ignore those if you're keen on shopping through the year.
