Although the game hasn't really been in the spotlight since 2017 following its expansion and Complete Edition reveal, rumors surrounding Horizon Zero Dawn have recently started to pick up once again. Last month, new leaks indicated that the popular PlayStation 4 exclusive would be making a surprising journey to the PC in February. While nothing has come about that information as of yet, the series is once again seemingly picking up steam regarding a potential sequel coming to the PlayStation 5.

According to a new job listing, Horizon Zero Dawn developer Guerrilla Games is looking for a Senior Game Programmer to join its staff in the Netherlands. The person will be joining the Game Code team, who are responsible for improving the Decima engine, adding new functionality to it, working with other teams to implement systemic and gameplay features, as well as design and optimize a range of in-game features.

While all of that is largely straight forward, things take an interesting turn under the area called Plusses. While not a requirement, the studio would also find it beneficial if the candidate has experience in a number of different areas including multiplayer. The original Horizon Zero Dawn was a single player only experience so it would be interesting to see what sort of multiplayer component could do for a game. While team deathmatch likely wouldn't be a good fit, perhaps a cooperative element could be the direction a sequel could go in.

While the job listing doesn't specifically say anything about Horizon, the features listed in the post certainly could be associated with it. Besides the fact that the position will be working on an epic open world game, other keywords and characteristics include things that could fit into a potential Horizon Zero Dawn sequel like ranged and melee weapons, player skills, as well as combat and traversal mechanics. Either way, this listing seems to indicate that whatever open world game Guerrilla is working on, could feature a multiplayer component.

This isn't the first time a job listing as tipped off potential plans for Horizon Zero Dawn. A couple of different rumors from 2019 may have given fans hope that not only will Horizon Zero Dawn get a sequel on the PlayStation 5, it could also be a launch title as well. One listing in particular specifically used the phrase "world of Horizon" to describe the focus of the Technical Vegetation Artist position. Whatever it is that Guerrilla is working on, fans may not have to wait too much longer as Sony may be preparing some sort of PS5 reveal event in February.

Horizon Zero Dawn is available now on the PlayStation 4.
