French publishing giant Ubisoft has filed a lawsuit against website owners for distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks against its online shooter Rainbow Six Siege.

According to the lawsuit - via Polygon - two of the suspected websites are SNG.ONE and R6S.support. Individuals from around the world have been named in the complaint.

"The DDoS services have caused, and are continuing to cause, serious and irreparable harm to Ubisoft, its valuable player community, and its business interests," said the lawsuit.

There are multiple subscription options for SNG.ONE, the first being a monthly plan costing up to $33. Second, an annual option which can cost up to $299.

As shown in a screenshot in the lawsuit, further online games such as FIFA 20, Fortnite and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 were also potential targets.

Last September, the company released a plan to put an end to DDoS attacks. This led to a 93 per cent decrease to the frequency in which these attacks occur.

In October 2019, the French publisher sued Rainbow Six hackers. Specifically, it sued MizuSoft for allegedly creating cheats for the shooter.

Ubisoft isn't the only games giant that is filing lawsuits. Epic Games sued a minor last October for both cheating in Fortnite and selling hacks to do it. Back in 2017, the American firm settled its first lawsuit in regards to cheaters in the battle royale.

Other complaints filed by Epic Games include suing a former Keywords Studios tester due to leaking classified information. A quality assurance tester - Thomas Hannah - also found himself on the receiving end of an Epic lawsuit for leaking in-game information.
