Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary is brining the classic Halo experience to PCs and the combat kicks off in February.

According to a Friday update on the Halo Waypoint forums, the team behind the return of Master Cheif is ready to get into the trenches and test out an extensive array of features for the re-imagining of this title. The second of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary will bring back the original game with a whole new set of features, modern graphics, and systems that players can test in February. The February test flight, as Halo calls it, will involve checking the title installs and updates correctly, validating dedicated servers, peer-to-peer connections, crossplay between Steam and Windows version. It will also give players the opportunity to glimpse the following content.

  • Single Player and Cooperative Campaign
  • Multiplayer
  • Customization
  • Progression

Alongside the first tests of Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, the upcoming test phase will see some improvements for those checking out Halo Reach, which had its first test flight in 2019. Now PC players who are feeling lucky can sign up to test out the Halo Combat Evolved title with more than a fresh lick of paint. Sign up to the halo insider program to get a chance to jump into the test flight program. If you are successful you’ll maybe even get the chance to test out the retro graphics option that allows players of the rebuilt halo experience to flip seamlessly between the old and new look Halo universe.

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary will land as part of the Halo Master Chief Collection, set at around £29.99 and bundling together most of the iconic Halo franchise, or costing around $10 for just this DLC. The remaining titles in the Master Chief collection are likely to hit the test flight program in the near future, so keep your eyes out for a heads up on that information as it arrives.
