An opportunity to play with a famous streamer is pretty rare. One lucky gamer was given that opportunity, unfortunately, it did not go to plan. Popular Twitch streamer, Pokimane, paired up with a stranger for a Duo match on Fortnite and all was seemingly well before the stranger's partner intervened. While it is not completely clear what happened, it seems that the stranger's girlfriend was pretty angry about him playing with Pokimane.
Fortnite has one of the largest player counts in the Battle Royale genre and Pokimane is the most popular female Twitch streamer. With so many players, the chances of matching with a famous streamer are slim. This random match started like any other until a ruckus could be heard in the background. Pokimane asked "Is your girlfriend actually mad or joking mad?" as it turned out, it was no joke.
There was an "ow" heard over the microphone and the sound of a commotion. Shortly after the player had to leave the game, rather than rematching, Pokimane took a few moments to talk to her audience. Firstly, she addressed the reaction of the girlfriend and followed up by branding it "not cool" to be mad at someone for playing with the opposite sex, particularly when it is well-intended fun. Pokimane also explained her own similar personal experiences and how it reflected a lack of trust. Pokimane has not always been a streamer, and her previous work as a relationship counselor likely helped her talk about the situation calmly and with clarity.
Of course, any kind of violence should be avoided and although it is unclear what happened, it did sound like an argument was about to begin. This isn't the first awkward situation the Pokimane has found herself in, but it was a surprising watch as the situation worsened for the player on the other side of the stream. Many will now hope that Pokimane's streaming content on Twitch doesn't run into any more issues and that the other player is fine.
