MacOS Catalina forces SMITE to end support for Mac players with Season 7

Anyone reading this who plays SMITE on a Mac, listen up: The arrival of Season 7 is going to spell the end of support for MacOS thanks to a conflict with the Catalina update that released in October. Essentially, the Catalina update removed all 32-bit code from MacOS, which means that SMITE can no longer support players running this update or any new ones once Season 7 launches. It also means that future updates to the game will no longer offer Mac support.

It’s not all gloom and doom, however. The devs are suggesting that Mac players use the Boot Camp utility, which effectively runs Windows 10 on Mac systems, in order to continue playing the game on a Mac. Players are also reminded that SMITE does allow for cross-platform progression, meaning they can carry their Mac account’s progress to another platform the game is on such as the Xbox One or Nintendo Switch.

If neither of those options is acceptable, players are being offered refunds for any in-game items purchased on a Mac since July 13th with a few exceptions. Just bear in mind that requesting a refund will permanently disable that Mac-specific account. All of the details and instructions are in the announcement.

We should mention that SMITE is not the only online game that’s suffering Mac support woes thanks to the Catalina update. You can find some other titles that have been hit by this change in the roundup below.
