A Fallout 76 player has created a room for other wastelanders to enjoy and placed within it what for many people is one of the most terrifying enemies both in the game and real life.

In a Reddit post, the devious Fallout 76 player describes how they built a school complete with lockers, desks, bookshelves, and a blackboard that says portentously, “Page 9 math homework due on Monday.” In the back of the schoolroom is another door with a sign designating the next area as the tutoring room, but any player unfortunate enough to investigate this new room soon discovers that the school’s tutoring program can be pretty harsh.

Upon entering the tutoring room, a metal door slams shut behind the hapless player and the only way to escape is to enter a code on the keypad beside the door. Instructions are written clearly on the wall: do math, open to live, 230*10+2, use keypad. The room’s creator observes what’s going on from an area outside of the school and, as soon as the trapped player has read the instructions, the creator flips a switch that fills the room with fire.

Trapped players must quickly solve the math problem and enter it on the keypad to escape the fire, or die. There is a bloatfly locked in a room upstairs that keeps the player in combat and unable to fast travel away. Even though the math problem is not incredibly difficult, the stress of the situation likely makes the solution tough to grasp quickly. Needless to say, many wastelanders have died in this torturous room.

The tutoring room’s creator has stated that they came up with the idea after having “communed with Satan for a time.” According to the Reddit post, most players have found the room funny, some have even returned for a second try, and those who died before escaping were allowed to safely retrieve their gear.

In addition to the math tutoring or torture room, the creator has built a maze that trapped players inside with a Deathclaw, an oven that snared and roasted unsuspecting players to death, and a Murder Church where players were relentlessly pursued and, well, murdered.

These inventive methods of taking out other wastelanders are possible thanks to Fallout 76’s CAMP system, which was originally intended to simply be a mobile settlement for players. Like the settlements in Fallout 4, CAMPs allow players to build shelters, set up workbenches, and establish a security system with turrets, among other things. Not surprisingly, however, creative gamers have found plenty of ways to expand upon the basics of CAMP and allow other players to participate in the fun and the occasional torture.

Fallout 76 was released in November 2018 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
