2018's God of War garnered a ton of praise at the time of its release and remains as one of Sony's advertised must-haves. In its most recent promotion, God of War's pre-order bonuses are currently free to download on the PlayStation Store.
Now as part of the PlayStation 4's "Hits" collection, God of War stands out as one of the PS4's most prized exclusives. The game itself is typically $19.99, though God of War is now discounted at $14.99.
Similarly, its pre-order bonuses have been given a 100% discount on the PlayStation Store. The God of War Holiday 2019 Giveaway pack includes the following items:
• Death’s Vow Armor Sets for Kratos and Atreus
• Exile’s Guardian Shield Skin
• Buckler of the Forge Shield Skin
• Shining Elven Soul-Shield Skin
• Dökkenshieldr Shield Skin
Each of the above bonuses provides a different buff or other unique appeal for Kratos and Atreus. For example, the Death's Vow Armor Set provides an up to the strength of the two, while the other bonuses provide different aesthetics for the shield wielded by Kratos with his axe in God of War.
The pre-order items can be downloaded for free until January 6, 2020 at 3:00 AM EST. They are accessible through the Armor and Weapons tab menu and can be equipped when the game's Deer hunt portion begins.
This is a fairly neat deal for those who didn't get a chance to obtain the pre-order items otherwise. While they may not add a ton of value to the overall experience, they are great options for beginners and provide a wider variety of aesthetic customization to God of War players, including those who have already played through the game, which may be getting a sequel at some point.
For PlayStation 4 owners who have yet to play 2018's God of War, the game is definitely a highlight for the successful console and may be the best God of War game out there. The game surely takes a different narrative direction than previous God of War titles and has more personal and close-up combat and encounters. It is worth any Sony fan's time and is definitely among the PlayStation 4's best games.
