In three days on December 20, the Skywalker Saga will end with the premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Sticking to tradition then, DICE and EA will celebrate the new Star Wars movie by providing Star Wars Battlefront II with related DLC.

Both the developer and publisher have shown very little of what the DLC will bring to the game — until now. A new trailer dropped for the upcoming The Rise of Skywalker DLC, and it's quickly solidified itself as one of the best trailers for Battlefront ever among fans of the game.

The trailer displays a battle between the Resistance and the Frist Order on the vibrant new jungle planet Ajan Kloss, which will be a new map for players to battle on. The trailer doesn't show off any actual gameplay but does do a fantastic job of showing fans what the upcoming The Rise of Skywalker DLC has in store for them. For instance, the new attire that Rey, Kylo Ren, and Finn sport in this trailer (which is based on their The Rise of Skywalker appearances) will be accessible to players starting today. On top of that, players will be able to play as the new Sith Troopers (the red-armored troopers) and the new Jet Troopers (the troopers with jet packs) when siding with the First Order. When siding with the Resistance, players will be able to play as the new alien races seen in the trailer in the forms of the Gunner (the guy with the mini-gun) and the Spy (the guy with the self-retracting telescope).

The trailer dubs the official name of The Rise of Skywalker update, "Celebration Edition." An appropriate name considering both the update and the actual movie will celebrate the first nine numbered movie titles in the Star Wars series. For example, the Celebration Edition will grant new and returning players access to all of the DLC applied to Battlefront II since its launch. To give that some context, through the purchase of the Celebration Edition, fans will have access to things like every cosmetic item released in Battlefront II's life span. So for any players that missed out on something like the Hooded Yoda skin and want it to go with their Baby Yoda mod, this update will give them that and more.

Star Wars Battlefront II has come a long way from its catastrophic beginnings. The microtransaction controversy that nearly killed the game when it came out two years ago seems to be a thing of the past now, and the release of this new The Rise of Skywalker content looks like it will be keeping it there.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
