We have learned through a fair assortment of failed titles that you can’t just make a new standalone battle royale title and have that take off in popularity (it worked once, and even that was kind of a fluke). But adding on a battle royale mode? You can do that almost anywhere, and that’s what Forza Horizon 4 is adding today with the Eliminator. It’s a battle royale racing game. Yes, really. You drive around in the game’s map starting in a little Mini-Cooper looking for little plumes of smoke to upgrade into a better car.
Of course, once you meet another player, you can challenge that player to a race. The winner can take the loser’s car or upgrade the car already being driven, with players eliminated thusly until the final 10 players face off in one final championship race. It’s an odd format, to be sure, but if you’re thinking that you want a little more battle royale in your race car vroom-vroom drivey times, you can get that now.
