PUBG Corp testing tweaks in battle royale fundamentals

The developer of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds PUBG Corp has been testing changes for its battle royale title.

Last weekend, the game has been experimenting with a new iteration on how the infamous circle works. Dubbed Bluehole Mode, the tweak would change how the safe zone - one of the core tenants - of the battle royale genre, in order to try and stop players from camping out in the play zone.

The way PUBG Corp has been doing this is having a second blue zone within the play zone (pictured, below), which means users take damage when they are simply hanging out in one part of the safe zone.

Whether this moves from test to the main version of Playerunknown's Battlegrounds isn't clear yet. The title has seen a dip in its playerbase since its all-time high at the start of 2018, so it's likely that PUBG Corp is trying to figure out how to stem this flow.
