Fractured Minds Brings Mental Health Awareness To X019

Alongside the explosive shooters, Fractured minds celebrated it’s launch during Microsoft’s X019 event in London last night.

Brought to life by Bafta Young Game Designer award winner Emily Mitchell, Fractured Minds is a puzzle experience that stood out among the rather explosive backdrop of last night’s X019 event. This first-person puzzle experience focuses on the impact of mental health and is inspired by Emily’s own experience with severe anxiety. Players picking up the game will embark on a deeply personal and emotional journey through the human psyche. They will navigate through a range of atmospheric and thought-provoking chapters, each one of which investigates an aspect of mental wellbeing.

Something Different

Checking out the game’s trailer, it’s difficult to describe this title in words. It jumps from mundane surroundings to apeing a chapter of the Shining, to dark monotone exteriors all in the course of a single trailer. This is one that is best experienced first hand and this seems to be Emily’s intent.

“I created Fractured Minds to help those who suffer from anxiety and other mental health issues feel they’re not alone,” said Emily Mitchell. “The effects of illness can be invisible from the outside, yet debilitating to those affected, so it’s important to continue raising awareness and offering support. I am grateful for the support I’ve received and want to help others however I can.”

Not only are publisher Wired and Emily opening an insight into a whole new world, but the game is more than just entertainment. 80% of the game’s proceeds are being equally split between Emily and Mental Health charity Safe in Our World. Safe in Our World raise awareness of mental health issues within the video games industry, and provide resources, signpost help, and to drive change for everyone connected with the industry. If you have a PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 Entertainment System, or Xbox One then Fractured minds is available in digital format for just $1.99 / £1.79 / €1.99. Not only can you grab one of the more offbeat titles of the year, but you’ll be helping the fight against crunch, burnout, and the stigma of mental health in the gaming industry. Check out more about Fractured Minds on the official website now and keep it Gamesapce for more on X019.
