Guild Wars 2 has lost yet another developer, this time to Bungie

Even if you disregard the poor community reception of some of ArenaNet’s recent initiatives, it’s been a rough couple of months for Guild Wars 2, as multiple developers have left the studio. We’ve previously covered the departures of Mike O’Brien, Bill Freist, Heather Conover, and Samantha Wallschlaeger. Now, Anet has lost Crystal Reid too. Reid apparently left a while ago, as yesterday she announced she’d just begun managing the narrative department at Bungie.

Reid was actually rather well liked by the community, which praised her work on raids and fractals, though apparently she’s not worked on that content for a while. She posted a farewell on Reddit, too: “Thanks for all the nice comments, it’s really heartwarming to know how much the players have enjoyed the content I’ve worked on. And there were so many amazing memories watching you try to take down these challenges via Twitch on release day, so thank you for playing and succeeding (but mostly failing). I moved out of creative development over 2 years ago is why I haven’t had a lot to say here in a while. I suspect that trend will continue, such is the life of management. Go forth and be excellent to each other.”

Guild Wars 2 news isn’t all bad today; not only did the game drop a trailer for next week’s Whisper in the Dark episode, but we ran down our favorite music from the game’s living world soundtrack.
