Star Wars Battlefront 2 has come a long way since its disastrous launch. The Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot box controversy got governments the world over to begin investigating loot boxes in video games, and the developers have done their best to put that behind them as they forge ahead with new content. In December, new Star Wars Battlefront 2 content will come in the form of two updates, one of which will deliver some highly anticipated DLC.

It's been confirmed that one of the Star Wars Battlefront 2 December updates will include Rise of Skywalker content to tie-in with the upcoming film. What exactly this content will entail remains to be seen, but we should learn more when we get closer to the release date.

It's quite likely that the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Rise of Skywalker update will come before the movie itself premieres. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on Friday, December 20 in movie theaters the world over, so fans should be able to expect the Star Wars Battlefront 2 DLC around then or maybe a week or two before that. That's generally been the case with past movie tie-ins for Star Wars Battlefront games, at least.

Some may recall that when Star Wars Battlefront 2 was first launched in 2017, it soon added The Last Jedi DLC, not long before that movie hit theaters. The Force Awakens content was added to the original Star Wars Battlefront in a similar fashion, so it makes sense that the Rise of Skywalker content will be in Star Wars Battlefront 2 within the next month or so. Fans will presumably get a better idea of what to expect from the update sometime before then.

The Rise of Skywalker content for Star Wars Battlefront 2 should be some of the more substantial content updates that the game has received in a few months. The last big Star Wars Battlefront 2 update added co-op, giving those still playing the game something new to try while potentially giving lapsed players a reason to jump back in.

It's unlikely that EA or DICE will be able to completely shake off the Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot box controversy, but at least those who enjoy the game are still able to enjoy new content on a regular basis.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
