The boss of chip maker AMD Dr Lisa Su has said that the company has had a strong start in the cloud games space.
Speaking to VentureBeat, the exec said that her firm had had "strong traction" in this area, likely a reference to AMD's chips powering Google's Stadia cloud streaming platform. That's set to launch this month. Su said that AMD will continue to invest in this space.
"We’ve had good traction with cloud gaming as one of the important use cases there," she said.
"As you look at high-performance computing and AI, those are also really good use cases for us. We continue to move forward with our investments in hardware and software in those areas. We view that as a growth market for us over the next couple of years."
She also said that AMD expects a strong 2020 due to the firm supplying chips for the forthcoming PS5 and Xbox Project Scarlett.
"We’re very happy to be in the next-generation Sony and Microsoft consoles for 2020," she said.
"We’re going through a product transition at the moment. Most of the energies have turned to the new consoles. But our expectation is that as this generation ramps down, we’ll have a strong ramp to the next generation, particularly as we go into the second half of 2020."
