PC Players can start to hone their hunting skills because Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is finally coming to PC on 9 January 2020.

There’s no need to rush when it comes to this announcement. While the update to the Monster Hunter World title finally has a release date, it comes months after the expansion landed on Playstation and Xbox platforms. The long delay might receive a frosty reception from PC gamers but this upcoming add on is undoubtedly huge.

We already know that the Icebrone update is more than just a new coat of paint for the hack and slash hunting title. It builds on almost every element of the original Monster Hunter World, adding in the largest region in the game so far, a multitude of new monsters to slice through, new gameplay options, and more. Set in the chilling plains of Hoarfrost Reach, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne drags players into a new environment that progressively expands as the game’s story unfolds. Lurking somewhere in this expansion is a mysterious creature and the reason that many brave the snowy fonts of Hoarfrost, the Elder Dragon, Velkhana.

To assist anybody brave enough to take on Velkhana, a host of new features are in place. The new Clutch Claw mechanic is joined by updates to all 14 weapon types and a two-player balanced difficulty scale. Hunters will be able to get around the Reach by hopping onto small monsters and the game is even getting a mentor style system, called Hunter Helper. For those that aren’t new to the series, Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will also add a new difficulty rank as well as a range of free post-launch updates in February. We expect these to follow the same format as the recent console updates. This, of course, means that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne comes at a price. The standard expansion launches at $39.99 / €39.99 and you can get your orders in over at the official Steam Store page. For more information on the update head over to the official website for more details.
