Each expansion and season of Destiny 2 brings with it a new collection of weapons to earn, and while not every weapon is going to be top-tier, there is usually a handful of them that are. And those are worth farming for in order to get the best perk roll possible on them. When it comes to the newest Shadowkeep expansion and the ongoing seasonal content of Season of the Undying, there are a few standouts especially for use in PvE content.

What makes the following options so good for PvE is that they have the ability to get a unique set of perks on them that allow them to excel in a certain role in activities. Like all weapons in Destiny 2, having that right combination is key to these weapons being exceptional in PvE activities.

Tranquility

Tranquility is a 90 RPM sniper rifle, which is a well-balanced archetype for snipers offering a great combination of damage and handling. The most unique perk that can roll on Tranquility, and the reason to hunt for it, is Firing Line, which provides a damage buff while standing near teammates. This is particularly good for activities like strikes, Gambit, and the raid when dealing boss damage and players are grouped up for a damage phase.

There are two great rolls players may want to hunt for. The first is focused on getting as much ammo into Tranquility for more rounds to deal damage: Polygonal Rifling, Extended Mag, Field Prep, and Firing Line. With Field Prep, players should crouch when it is time to reload.

The second roll is meant for a specific use, but one that can be very strong: Polygonal Rifling, Extended Mag, Auto-Loading Holster, and Firing Line. This roll is all about being around teammates for a damage phase, firing off a full magazine that has been increased by Extended Mag, then stowing it to deal more damage with a heavy weapon. While it is stowed, Auto-Loading Holster will reload the magazine, allowing players to swap back to Tranquility to fire off more shots.

Players can farm for this weapon by picking up the Essence of Vanity at the Lectern of Enchantment. Spending Phantasmal Cores at the Lectern allows players to pick up more Essences, letting them farm for additional rolls.

Ancient Gospel

Ancient Gospel has great base stats for a hand cannon, and what makes this good for PvE is a roll that is focused on add clear. The roll is Hammer-Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Outlaw, and Dragonfly. This is similar to the curated roll for the Nation of Beasts hand cannon from the Last Wish raid and Destiny 1's Fatebringer hand cannon. The combination of Outlaw and Dragonfly is great for taking down mob enemies and clearing out groups.

Love and Death

Love and Death is a grenade launcher that is one of the best heavy weapons in the game. Grenade launchers are still one of the best DPS weapons in the game, especially against bosses, despite nerfs to auto-reload mechanics that came in Shadowkeep. This grenade launcher is all about boss damage, not clearing out groups nor majors. To get the most out of this grenade launcher for that purpose, the roll players want to search for is Volatile Launch, Spike Grenades, Field Prep, and Full Court with a Blast Radius Masterwork.

One Small Step

One Small Step is the shotgun that comes from the Essence of Rage and it allows for a very specific character build, but one that can be really good in PvE, especially for Titans. Just like how Tranquility is one of the few snipers that can roll Firing Line, One Small Step is one of the few shotguns that can roll a perk called One-Two Punch, which increases melee damage when all pellets hit an enemy. So this roll focuses on a shotgun-melee build. The roll players want for this build is Full Choke, Extended Mag, Grave Robber, and One-Two Punch.

For Titans, this shotgun is especially good for a build that combines the Wormgod Caress exotic gauntlets, the Thunder Coil and Unstoppable Melee perk mods from the seasonal artifact, and the bottom tree of the Striker subclass. This can lead to Titans doing massive damage to bosses and majors.

Edgewise

Edgewise is the ritual weapon for the Vanguard this season, and it is a good option for players, especially those who may not have the 21% Delirium Gambit pinnacle weapon from Season of the Drifter. While it is not necessarily better than 21% Delirium or even a well-rolled Hammerhead machine gun from the Black Amory Forges in dealing pure damage, Edgewise is a great machine gun that can fill a specific role. For pure damage, players can select the Feeding Frenzy/Rampage combo, but what is most interesting for this weapon is selecting Field Prep and Demolitionist to give players more ammo and faster regeneration on their grenades.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
