A new rumor already spreading like wildfire suggests that beloved sci-fi RPG Horizon Zero Dawn may be getting some sort of adaptation for the PlayStation VR. Something new is thought to be forthcoming from London Studio, which has firmly established itself as a talented PSVR development team.

This Horizon Zero Dawn rumor, however, comes from Twitter; Callum Hurley, who works within the VR scene (currently at Digital Pivot 360 and IPG E-Sports, formerly at both Oculus and Sandbox), tweeted that he had learned of a new PSVR game coming from London Studio. Hurley hinted heavily that the project was related to Horizon, though he was unsure whether it would be for the PS4 or PS5.

Nevertheless, Hurley's tweet could foretell some much-anticipated news. "Was recently made aware of a very exciting new PlayStation VR game coming out of London Studio," he wrote. "Not sure whether it'll be for PS4, PS5 or both, but it's really exciting, and an announcement could be on the Horizon..." If such a game were really in development, there's no indication of whether it would be a simple port of the original, a sequel (Horizon Zero Dawn 2, perhaps?), or some kind of spin-off set in the Horizon game universe. Even a port of the first game would surely make for an entertaining VR experience, given the number of times players would have to "take aim" with Aloy's bow and arrows.

It's important to note, however, that this is just a rumor; there's no official indication that Horizon Zero Dawn will be involved with VR in any way. Hurley himself clarified that he hadn't seen anything firsthand, tweeting, "I did not get this info because I'm an "industry person", I just happen to know someone who playtested the title." This isn't the first time a rumor about more Horizon Zero Dawn has made the rounds this year, as rumors about a sequel—and Horizon Zero Dawn 2 potentially being a PS5 title—have also come to light. Neither Horizon Zero Dawn developer Guerilla Games nor any other studio has yet to formally announce anything regarding a new title.

So while players waiting impatiently for more Aloy (or at least more of the Horizon universe) may be excited by the prospect of a new VR title, the rumor should still be taken with a grain of salt. Guerilla Games definitely has something in the works, if recent Guerilla Games job listings are anything to go by, but exactly what remains to be seen.

Horizon Zero Dawn is currently available as a PS4 exclusive.
