Pokemon GO's big annual Halloween event has finally been confirmed by Niantic. This year, the Pokemon GO Halloween event will start on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 1PM PDT and last until Friday, November 1 at 1PM PT. And this time around, the Pokemon GO Halloween event has more special content to offer players than any year before.

First off, the Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 event will be addled new Shadow Pokemon to the game, which will include Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Electabuzz, Magmar, Lapras, Mareep, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Sableye, Trapinch, Cacnea, Shuppet, and Duskull. Players will be able to encounter these Shadow Pokemon by battling Team Rocket at specially-marked PokeStops.

Secondly, Pokemon GO players can look forward to new cosmetic items during the Halloween 2019 event, including a Zubat Bag, a Pikachu Onesie, a Cubone Cap, a Litwick Cap, and a Mimikyu Bag.

As far as actual Pokemon, the Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 event will be increasing the spawn rate of ghost- and dark-type Pokemon, with Gastly and Murkrow specifically mentioned. Yamask will also be making its Pokemon GO debut during the event, and a shiny variation of it will be available.

Other Pokemon besides Pikachu will be wearing Halloween costumes this year, including Bulbasaur wearing a Shedninja costume, Charmander wearing a Cubone costume, and Squirtle wearing a Yamask costume. Pikachu's Mimikyu costume will return, and all of these Pokemon will be found in raid battles during the Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 event. There will even be a chance to catch their shiny variations as well.

Speaking of raids, the Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 event will have its own special raid boss in the form of the super rare Pokemon Darkrai. Darkrai has been rumored for Pokemon GO since last year's Halloween event, so it's nice to see the legendary Pokemon finally make its proper debut in Pokemon GO.

And finally, Pokemon GO players can look forward to new limited time Field Research tasks for the Halloween 2019 event. This will include a 2019 version of the "A Spooky Message" Special Research, which looks like it will once again let players catch Spiritomb.

While Pokemon GO players are participating in the Halloween 2019 event, they will enjoy additional bonuses, include double catch candy, double hatch candy, and double transfer candy until the event ends on November 1, 2019 at 1PM PDT.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
