CHARTS: Monster Hunter World soars to Steam Top Ten No.1 spot

Capcom's Monster Hunter World has climbed the Steam chart to take the No.1 spot.

A 50 per cent discount likely helped sales for the RPG while the excitement from the Iceborne DLC console release may also have contributed to the game’s Steam sales. So far over 13 million units for the game have been shipped worldwide.

As the release date for Destiny 2 on Valve's storefront draws closer, pre-orders for the sci-fi online RPG’s Shadowkeep Digital Deluxe Edition are strong, selling well enough to take third place in the Top Ten this week. This includes the original Destiny 2 game, Shadowkeep DLC and its pre-order and deluxe bonuses as well as the pass for the Season of the Undying.

Destiny 2 is coming to Steam following Bungie buying the publishing rights from Activision Blizzard; therefore the game is leaving Battle.net.

New Stranger Things DLC for Behaviour Digital's online survival horror title Dead by Daylight was released on September 17th. The add-on content inspired by the hit 80s-themed Netflix show takes fourth place.

Behaviour bought the rights to Dead by Daylight from publisher Starbreeze last year. This means it’s likely the developer is seeing more of a financial uptick from game sales.

PUBG Corp's still-popular battle royale Playerunknown's Battlegrounds continues its run in the charts following the 4.3 update in the game's Test Server, placing at No.5.

Greedfall falls from second place to No.7 this week; Focus Home Interactive's new fantasy RPG was released on September 9th.

Making its return to the Top Ten is Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V in eighth place. Since launching its casino update back in July, the game has seen "record player engagement" according to publisher Take-Two.

Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition re-enters the chart at No.9 following an update, allowing players to share their save files between the Nintendo Switch and PC. Closing this week’s chart is Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Square Enix's action-adventure title sits at No.10 with a 67 per cent off sale.
