Here’s roughly ten minutes of Chronicles of Elyria pre-alpha gameplay

A common complaint among those who are watching the development of Chronicles of Elyria from the sidelines is that there’s not much actual game being shown off, with only claiming non-existent lands or secession from unbuilt kingdoms to show for it. Well, now we’ve got the bones of a sandbox MMORPG to show off with some new internal playtest footage.

The footage in question is captured from this past Thursday of a “prelyria” build, which is effectively a pre-alpha version of the game. The video takes us through some character creation and then to the game’s world, where the player avatar strides around a dark forest, fiddles with their inventory, and swings a sword at a poor NPC. According to the video description, this sort of internal playtesting happens twice a week.

One should bear in mind that the footage in question is clearly very early, so expect lots of jankiness such as massive framerate drops, simplistic graphics, and extremely rough combat. As a proof of concept, though, the footage is certainly meritorious in that we get to see all of the little pieces working together. Judge for yourself below.
