All Elite Wrestling, the new up and coming professional wrestling promotion, has picked up a new commentator. And not just any commentator, but a familiar face in esports. Call of Duty, Halo, and more recently Overwatch esports fans will recognize him immediately. Alex "Goldenboy" Mendez has officially joined the All Elite Wrestling family, effective immediately, and is already confirmed to be commentating tonight's All Out event.

AEW made the announcement on Twitter Friday afternoon, posting that Goldenboy is now #AllAlite. Goldenboy confirmed the announcement shortly after in a short video posted to Twitter. "Dreams come true after all" was Goldenboy's final message in video, making clear that this had long been an aspiration of Mendez. Goldenboy has previously said that he's a lifelong pro wrestling fan and that wrestling announcers Jim Ross and Michael Cole inspired his career.

This isn't the first time that Goldenboy has done commentary for AEW. He also commentated AEW's Fyter Fest event in late June. That happened as a result of AEW's partnership with Community Effort Orlando, a fighting game event hosted by CEO. Goldenboy doing wrestling commentary was part of the partnership between the two companies, as was a hardcore wrestling match involving CEO Gaming's CEO Alex Jebaily. AEW clearly saw a lot of potential in Goldenboy's work.

Goldenboy isn't wholly departing video game and esports commentary just yet, however. According to Goldenboy's Twitter feed, he's scheduled for commentary on the upcoming UGC Halo Classic tournament in Atlantic City. This means that Goldenboy could potentially still be doing commentary for the Overwatch League going forward.

AEW All Out is a major pro wrestling event taking place in the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. It accompanies the ongoing Starrcast III pro wrestling convention taking place in the same location. The event will determine the inaugural AEW World Champion in a match between Adam Page and Chris Jericho. The AEW Women's World Championship belt will also be unveiled at the event, though the fight for it will take place in October.

AEW All Out is a pay-per-view only event. Other wrestling matches scheduled for AEW All Out include Pac vs. Kenny Omega and the Lucha Brothers vs. The Young Bucks.
