Destiny 2 showed off a new gameplay trailer for its fall Shadowkeep expansion during Stadia Connect, giving a look at the game's finishing moves, new gear, and more.

The trailer is narrated by character Eris Morn, who makes her return to Destiny 2 in the Shadowkeep expansion. The trailer follows along the lines of what we know about the storyline of Shadowkeep and some of the enemies players will face. The Hive have awoken enemies known as Nightmares, which look to be bosses from the past that are returning to challenge Guardians.

In this trailer, bosses drawing all the way from Destiny 1 can be seen including Crota, Omnigul, Skolas, and Phogoth. The trailer also shows the return of Ghaul, the main antagonist from the original campaign of Destiny 2. It is unknown exactly if these bosses will return as part of a particular activity, spread out in strikes, or presented in some other way.

The trailer also shows off a bunch of the Moon-themed armor that will be included in Shadowkeep as well as what looks to be an exotic Hunter helmet that gets a special moment of highlight during the trailer. It also looks like the exotic heavy machine gun that was previously revealed to be coming in Shadowkeep also gets some screen time.

Throughout the gameplay, the new finishing moves are shown off as well, including a brand new animation that shows a Titan doing a spinning kick finisher. Players will be able to use these finishing moves in exchange for a portion of super energy to not only eliminate enemies in a stylish way but also activate unique perks associated with finishing moves.

By the looks of this trailer, it looks like Shadowkeep is going to feature much of what fans expect in an expansion, including a new destination, new gear to chase, and new enemies to fight. Based on recent commentaries from Destiny franchise director Luke Smith detailing many of the other gameplay and sandbox changes, as well as the vision developer Bungie has for the game moving into the future, there is definitely a lot for fans of the franchise to be excited for.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep releases October 1, 2019, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
