PlayStation 4 gamers are in for a treat today as one of the top MMORPGs on the planet rolls into open beta on the platform, joining PC and Xbox One. That’d be Pearl Abyss’ Black Desert. Launch is still set for two weeks from now.

“Become your true self in the Open Beta, available to all players without a PlayStation Plus subscription required,” the studio says. “Explore the lands of Serendia, Balenos and Calpheon with six character classes, including the Warrior, Sorceress, Ranger, Berserker, Wizard and Witch. Adventurers can create their ideal characters through the robust customization tool, embarking on a journey to reach a maximum level of 50. Participate in GM events within the world such as cart racing, fishing, and hide-n-seek for a chance to win exclusive prizes and content. Downloading the Open Beta rewards players with the exclusive Sky Hawk pet when Black Desert launches on August 22, which can loot items, increases Knowledge Gain Chance and finds rare monsters.”

As we’ve previously noted, the beta runs until August 13th with a slew of events lined up for each day; preorders have been live for a little while too for those who want to lock in their two-day headstart.

And you betcha there’s a new trailer to mark the occasion:
