Developer Riot Games revealed that it is working on a fighting game at the Evolution Championship 2019 .
Tom Cannon, one of the founders of the Evolution Championship and an employee of Riot Games, spoke about the company’s new project at the event.
“I want to be able to let people in on maybe the worst kept secret in the universe, I can confirm that we are working on a fighting game for Riot,” he said
“I’m not here to say the game’s coming out any time soon, but I do feel like we’re making progress and I felt like it was only appropriate that we reset the conversation and let everybody know that what you think we’re working on, yeah, that’s actually what we’re working on.”
The League of Legends developer acquired Radiant Entertainment in 2016, a company founded by Cannon and his brother. It was working on a fighting game before the acquisition, Rising Thunder, though it never saw release.
“The reason we did Rising Thunder in the first place was because we felt like fighting games just deserved to be enjoyed by way more people. Like as big as things are, we think it has the potential to get bigger,” continued Cannon
“It’s far away, no trailer, no name, and a lot of hard work.”
