I'll never get over you getting over me.

On a recent episode of the Massively OP podcast, Bree and I both expressed how much we are looking forward to Torchlight Frontiers’ release. When that day happens, we and all other hack-and-slash players are going to have a lot to do because Max Schaefer and his team at Echtra Games have laid out tons for us to do at launch — and in the years beyond.

In an interview with The Escapist, Schaefar promised that the initial version of the game will contain between 60 and 80 hours of “linear” content, with the option to expand in multiple directions thanks to the level-free zones. Beyond that? At least five years of content have been mapped out. He let slip that PvP and competitive systems will eventually be added to the game as well.

Schaefer also said that the team is being careful to be “very gentle” with monetization. “We don’t want this to be a pay-to-win game,” he said. “We don’t want you to feel like you’re at a point where you can only progress if you pay. That’s not how you get a good long-term dedicated audience.”
