Would you try a single-player spinoff of The Division 2, or are you happy with it as it is?

Over the weekend, multiple game devs, including The Division 2’s creative director, floated the idea of a “single player narrative driven spin off” of the online game. It was apparently first proposed on Twitter by TT Games’ Tim Spencer, then amplified by Ubisoft’s Julian Gerighty.

“Apparently not something people are violently against :),” Gerighty noted a few hours later after replies leaned heavily in favor. There’s a big ol’ thread about it on The Division 2 subreddit too, though folks are slightly less enthusiastic there, as there’s a bit of concern about wanting more love poured into the online game they’ve already paid for, plus plenty of shade about how Division 2 is already practically single-player.

Of course, this is a pure hypothetical right now, so maybe don’t get your hopes up. MMO players will surely recall that last summer, Riot Games folks were floating the idea of a League of Legends MMORPG, only to see the bosses turn around and laugh at it and promise it wasn’t happening. Then again, I expect better from Ubisoft.
