PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has always dealt with cheaters. Every major online game in recent memory has dealt with cheaters of every kind. PUBG Corp has taken steps throughout its life to quell these cheaters, and a new video by the battle-royale maker hope to detail some of the behind the scenes work it's taken towards these efforts.
The video, (thanks Blue's News) presented by Dahyung Lee who is the head of PUBG Corp's Anti-Cheat Unit, details the many ways his team responds to actions that affect the gameplay experience of PUBG players negatively.
Essentially, when the team notices something that could be considered a cheat, especially someone who is using a third-party tool , the team starts to review the logs to figure out what's going on. PUBG Corp will even obtain the cheating tool itself, test it so they can understand how it works, and start developing counter-measures to prevent this tool from working in the future. During the course of their testing they ban accounts which are found to be cheating, and when they've deployed fixes, the team works towards anticipating future attacks by "analyzing data and using machine learning methods."
The overall video is interesting if you've always wondered how a team like PUBG Corp works to ensure all players entrenched in firefights all throughout Erengel are on a level playing field. It's slow going, but ultimately gives some great behind the scenes with one of the world's largest games.
