UK digital charts: Sales and anticipation lift Borderlands 2, Pre-sequel once more

Crash Team Racing holds on for one more week, before being dethroned by GTA V

It's been a busy, mixed up last two weeks for the UK digital charts, with the Steam Summer Sale shuffling lots of older titles into the top ranks and lifting GTA V back to the top spot last week, dethroning Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled at last.

For the week ending June 30, Crash Team Racing remained king for a second week in a row after its launch, with GTA V just behind. Though Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege managed to cling to a place in the top 10, older titles such as Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Borderlands 2, Bioshock: The Collection, and Two Point Hospital rose from as low as No.627 the previous week (Bioshock) to high sales, likely due to deep Steam Summer Sale discounts.

For the same week, only one new release made it into the top 10: F1 2019, debuting at No. 4. Sega's Judgment entered at No.21.

Then, last week (ending July 7), Crash Team Racing finally dropped to No.4 not just below GTA V at No.1, but also beneath Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel at No.2 and Borderlands 2 at No.3, likely still selling well between the Steam Summer Sale and anticipation for Borderlands 3. EA Sports UFC 3 also made an appearance in the Top 10 at No.8, up from No.267 the week before. There were no new releases in the top 60 that week.

The GSD chart is created from data supplied directly from publishers and developers, whereas the GfK chart (which covers the physical market) is created from data supplied directly from retailers. GfK's chart typically arrives on Monday, whereas the GSD data takes longer to compile. It's also worth noting Nintendo's digital data isn't currently taken into account.

As we previously reported, this chart is a work-in-progress but can give better context as to what players are spending on.
