Dauntless invites Slayers to test their luck in its upcoming Fortune & Glory update

They say that luck is a fickle mistress, but that’s not strictly true — she just plays favorites is all. But Dauntless players will soon have the opportunity to earn her favor in the aptly titled Fortune & Glory update, which will be arriving on the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions of the game on July 16th. The highlight of the update will be the introduction of Trials. Offered by Lady Luck herself, Trials will give even the most inveterate of Slayers a challenge as they face up against “dangerous, modified Behemoths and all-new environmental challenges, like terrain-transforming pests,” all while fighting against the clock.

Slayers can first get their feet wet in the normal-difficulty Trials, which will reward successful Slayers with Steel Marks, which can be exchanged for “unique rewards such as weapon mods and alternate special attacks.” And if normal-difficulty Trials somehow prove too dull, Slayers can step up to the “Dauntless” difficulty. These particularly punishing Trials will put players through their paces, but those who emerge victorious will earn themselves Gilded Marks that can be used to purchase “exclusive cosmetic rewards that showcase more advanced accomplishments.”

The best of the best will even be immortalized — well, for a week, anyway — on the Wall of Champions in Ramsgate. And of course with a new major update comes a new Hunt Pass season, which shifts the focus away from the Hidden Blades season’s ninja flavor and replaces it with High Skies, a sky-pirate themed affair in which players can earn exclusive swashbuckling cosmetics as they progress through the Hunt Pass tiers. For all the details on Dauntless’s Fortune & Glory update, be sure to check out the official announcement over on the game’s website.
