Although Pokemon GO has made some incredibly quality of life improvements since it launched three years ago, the game still isn't perfect. One area that players have often complained about is the wait times as the game acts out animations during catching and evolving Pokemon. There have been a few different hacks over the years to try and get around the iconic Pokeball shake animation, but none of them are very easy or convenient. That may be about to change for Android users of select devices though...

Trainers who have played Pokemon GO even casually are likely aware that after hitting a Pokemon with a Pokeball, the ball needs to shake three times before the Pokemon is secure (unless there's a rare critical catch). For players who are trying to catch a lot of Pokemon incredibly quickly, like on Community Day for example, this animation stops being cute and nostalgic and really just gets in the way of playing. The latest workaround to avoid the animation is available for Android users who have visible navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen while the app is running.

Unlike many of the other workarounds, which required players to hold a weird combination of buttons, this workaround is actually incredibly simple. Players really just need to click Back as soon as the ball hits the Pokemon.

How To Use The Android Fast Catch Trick

Start a Pokemon encounter

Throw the ball at the target

As soon as the ball hits the target, press the back button

You should be back on the map and the Pokemon should be in your storage if you caught it

pokgemon go AR mudkip

Unfortunately, this workaround is limited to players who are using just the Android devices with the bottom of the screen navigation buttons.  That means that all iOS users are still out of luck when it comes to a quick and easy way to avoid the long catch animation. Hopefully Niantic eventually adds a skip functionality, but so far it doesn't seem to be a priority that the developer is concentrating on.

Be sure to check back in the coming days for more Pokemon GO news, updates, and strategy guides. Until then, good luck out there, trainers.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
