Sony TV and Hivemind have announced that Final Fantasy XIV is being primed for alive-action television series. Viewers will find a lot of familiar aspects from FFXIV including beastment, Cid, chocobos, and much more. While the story will be unique, it is inspired by the Eorzea seen in FFXIV though it will also have influences from the entire Final Fantasy series.
Sony Pictures Television Co-President Chris Parnell said, "Final Fantasy XIV and Eorzea are the perfect gateway into Final Fantasy for longtime fans and newcomers alike. This show is about embracing and embodying all the elements that have made the mythos such an endlessly captivating phenomenon, and it's an immense honor to be bringing all of Eorzea's iconic characters, settings, and concepts".
The general story will be focused on "the struggle between magic and technology in a quest to bring peace to a land in conflict". While there will be a lot of familiar characters, new characters will also be introduced.
At this point, there is no information about when the series may debut, but it's nice to know it's on the way!
