At E3 2019, Microsoft closed its press conference with a new Halo Infinite cinematic trailer and revealed that Halo Infinite will be a launch title for the next Xbox, which is currently being called Project Scarlett. While Xbox Scarlett is not set to release until holiday 2020, it seems that fans will not have to wait that long to try out the next entry in the Halo franchise, as 343 Industries has announced that Halo Infinite beta tests are forthcoming.

Referred to as "flighting programs," it is said that the Halo Infinite beta tests "will start small and slowly expand out until release." Very likely, this is meant to suggest that the number of players that will have access to the Halo Infinite beta will grow over time, and part of that growth will come by staggering the release of these "opt-in flights" across platforms. More specifically, it seems that Xbox owners will be the first to experience the Halo Infinite beta, while "flighting may come a little bit later for PC players."

This information was revealed in an official blog post made by 343, which looks to provide a breakdown of all the currently verified details about Halo Infinite. Included in this information is the indication that Halo Infinite will have LAN support and that split-screen is already "up and running internally." Indeed, some fans considered the absence of split-screen to be one of the Halo 5 mistakes, and these players will certainly be happy to have the feature back in Halo Infinite.

Additionally, the blog post touches on some details about Halo Infinite customization, stating that those that enjoyed the armor customization offered by Halo: Reach "will be pleased." It is further indicated that black undersuits will be in the game, which will certainly be welcome news to some players, despite this potentially seeming like a small detail.

Following E3 2019, it was said that Halo Infinite is going dark until E3 2020. As such, those that are wondering when the Halo Infinite beta will begin may need to plan to wait until after next year's expo. While this may seem like quite a ways off, at least those fans that are most excited about Halo Infinite will seemingly get a chance to play it before the release of Xbox Scarlett.
