Over a year after the release of 2018's God of War, it has been repeatedly suggested by multiple sources that a sequel to God of War is in the works, including by game director Cory Barlog himself. Most recently, multiple job postings on Sony Santa Monica's Careers page point in the direction of a sequel being on the way.

After the massive hit that was 2018's revisioned God of War, many were wondering when a sequel would be announced given the ending's cliffhanger. Gamers have gotten multiple hints since, including that of a teased God of War sequel in a PlayStation 4 theme in which there are some runes that spell "Ragnarok is coming." Additionally, God of War director Cory Barlog had sent out several tweets whose starting words contain letters that spell out the same phrase.

The evidence continues to pile up, as several job listings indicate there is a God of War sequel in development. For example, a listing for "Combat Designer" reads that the Combat Designer will be responsible for development of combat mechanics and knowledgeable of "God of War (2018) and be able to speak about the combat systems, mechanics and enemies." A similarly-titled position in "Senior Combat Designer" bears the same requirement.

While these listings don't explicitly state they are for the development of a new God of War game, the available evidence tends to point in that direction. Between prior teases containing the phrase "Ragnarok is coming" and these listings calling for applicants with knowledge of 2018's God of War, a sequel to one of the best-selling games of 2018 is looking more and more likely.

As for the description itself, it is interesting that it calls for knowledge on the "combat systems, mechanics, and enemies" of God of War. This statement suggests that the gameplay will be in the same vein as the revisioned God of War and will have similar enemies. While the former doesn't come as much of a surprise, it may be worth noting that enemy types in God of War's sequel will probably be similar to or the same as the enemy types in 2018's God of War. Given there is a sequel to God of War, it is quite likely that there will be a diversity of mechanics in light of past games in the series.

God of War is currently available exclusively soon PlayStation 4.
