Elon Musk's Twitter account has gotten him into trouble quite a few times in the past, as the outspoken billionaire has actually caused Tesla shares to drop because of some of his social media behavior. Musk has found himself in hot water on Twitter for a variety of reasons, but this latest controversy is one of the most bizarre by far.

Musk, who is a gamer himself, shared some fan art of 2B from Nier: Automata on his Twitter account, but he failed to credit the original artist, Meli Magali. This caused a number of people to call Musk out for not crediting Magali, as a share by someone with Musk's massive following (he has over 27 million Twitter followers at the time of this writing) could have literally made that Magali's career.

Instead of giving credit to Magali for creating the Nier: Automata 2B fan art, Musk instead strangely doubled down on not giving them credit. In now-deleted tweets that were thankfully screencapped, it's possible to see Musk flat-out tell people "no" when being told that he should credit the Nier: Automata fan artist.

Musk didn't really seem to offer any real reason as to why he wouldn't credit the Nier: Automata 2B fan artist. He even said, "I wish people would stop crediting artists on twitter when any fool can find out who the artist was in seconds. It's destroying the medium." Musk didn't elaborate on how exactly giving credit to an artist is "destroying the medium," and needless to say, this statement only garnered more anger from Twitter users.

Eventually, seemingly fed up with the negative reaction, Musk deleted the tweets in question and then changed his profile picture to a black circle. He then declared that he "just deleted" his Twitter account. In actuality, Elon Musk's Twitter is still online, though he hasn't posted anything on it since making that tweet.

It remains to be seen if Elon Musk will return to Twitter or not. In the meantime, fans can still reminisce over some of his classic gaming tweets, like when he joked about deleting Fortnite from existence.
