At the Microsoft E3 2019 press conference, the next From Software game was officially confirmed with the announcement of Elden Ring. While the reveal of Elden Ring was certainly met with a great deal of enthusiasm, some fans may have been surprised to not hear any news about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice DLC during the expo. Indeed, many have been expecting post-launch content for Sekiro, but there is now indication that there is no Sekiro DLC currently in development.

The rumor that From Software is not developing any Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice DLC at this time originates from ResetEra, a popular forum for video game discussion, with a user indicating that, to their knowledge, "there's no one working on Sekiro DLC now." Certainly, this statement should be considered with skepticism, however, the user has previously provided "insider" information about From Software titles, and a ResetEra administrator has confirmed that the user "has a good source."

The user further indicates that From Software's current "main focus" is Elden Ring, which is certainly logical now that the game has been officially announced. The implication here seems to be that any of the studio's resources that would have been dedicated to Sekiro DLC are now wrapped up in the development of the collaboration with George R.R. Martin, and this makes sense considering that it is said that Elden Ring is the largest From Software game to date.

sekiro dlc not in development

Perhaps then it is possible that From Software could return to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice after Elden Ring has gone gold, though this would not be consistent with how the company has handled DLC for its other recent titles. As such, it may be safe to assume that Sekiro has come to a close until a sequel is released, if, in fact, that ever occurs.

For those fans that have been wondering about what the Sekiro DLC plan will be, this rumor may come as disappointing news indeed. That said, it is just a rumor, which means that players should not definitively rule out the possibility of DLC for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice until official word is issued by From Software.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
